I had a couple birthday cakes to make this past weekend, one 40th and one 50th, I think they both turned out good! :)
Pictures of a couple cakes I made last weekend. The two little smash cakes were for an adorable set of twins who had their first birthday this past weekend. The theme was thing 1 and thing 2 from Dr. Seuss. The 2nd cake was Minnie Mouse for a coworker's little girl's 3rd Birthday. :) I have 2 more cakes to do this weekend that I will post pictures of ASAP. :)
I've been slacking on updating my blog, but here are some pictures of recent cakes I've done -- Music, Hello Kitty, Monster Truck and Portal of Power cake from the Skylanders Video Game. I have quite a few more cakes coming up and I will try get them posted on here in a timely fashion! :)
Strawberry Shortcakes were for a coworker whose two daughters were celebrating a birthday. I made 2 four inch cakes, one for each birthday girl, and the 10 inch round cake go accompany it. (I took the mini cake picture next to the can of pop so you could see how small they are) The cake was strawberry with vanilla frosting. I think it turned out cute!
I saw the idea on Pinterest for the wheel cake and knew I had to make it for my Grandma, whose birthday just happened to be this past Sunday when I was back in my hometown. The original idea was to make the wheel and set it on a sheet cake positioned in portrait instead of landscape (you following me?) and then we were going to put the puzzle board on the bottom half of the cake. Well, after we decided that the wheel should be on a turn table so it actually spun (yes, you could spin the wheel!), it was too big to fit on the cake and still have room. Soooo....we did 2 cakes, and I think it turned out pretty good. I say we because my 17 year old sister helped with the cutting of the pieces and other decorating! She's a good lil baker, too! :) Here are the pics!
This cake was for an old coworker's little girl who is turning 6 this week. I LOVED the theme as I am a huge zebra print fan as well as pink and black! The main cake was snickers with the carmel buttercream and the cupcakes were banana with the carmel buttercream. I used fondant strips for the zebra stripes and used chocolate & vanilla almond bark (colored) to make the cupcake toppers. :) I think it turned out cute and I think the Birthday girl liked it!
I got asked to make a "Creeper" cake for a coworker's husband. I had no idea what a "creeper" is, and I'm betting you may not, either! :-) This is a "Creeper" ... it's from the Computer game, Minecraft... And THIS is the cake I made to resemble a "Creeper"! It was made out of chocolate cake, which I mixed an entire bag of Heath toffee bits in, and frosted it with Carmel buttercream frosting. My coworker LOVED it, and said it tasted delicious, so the cake was a success! :) This weekend I will be making 6 dozen Baptism cupcakes for a friend of mine's sister! Check back Sunday for pictures! :)
